Alina was born in 1977, in Hunedoara, Romania.

Although in her childhood and adolescence she was a great lover of art and nature, she follows her family’s wishes and studies Political Sciences at Babeș-Bolyai University-Cluj, in order to become a diplomat.

After graduating she won a scholarship for a MA in Philosophy at Sorbonne, but there she chose a different path and studied Art History, specializing in Antique and Renaissance Culture, followed by studies of Classical Drawing at Florence Academy of Arts.

She also spends a retreat year in a monastery in Alps as a contemplative, with a vow of silence.

Since then she worked for 15 years as a commercial designer and art director for renowned national and international brands.

For the last 5 years she slowly returns to her childhood fascination with nature. With botany – and science in general – as serious hobbies, she starts to make ink illustrations of plants, aiming to combine exquisite art with scientific insights. In addition to drawing portraits of plants, every month she adds new recordings, usually in pen and watercolor, in her Botanical Journal.

She also uses her knowledge and experience to teach Drawing and Botanical Journaling to formal and informal groups.
